Socket 8 CPU socket was used exclusively with the Intel Pentium Pro and Pentium II OverDrive computer processors. Intel discontinued socket 8 in favor of Slot 1 with the introduction of the Pentium II.
Socket 8 has a unique rectangular shape with 387 pins, a bus speed ranging from 66-75 MHz, voltage from 2.1 - 3.5V, and support for Pentium Pro chips from 150-200 MHz, Pentium Pro OverDrive CPUs, and Pentium II OverDrive CPUs.
